Biography :
Dr Tracey Benson is a media artist, educator, digital strategist and social scientist based in Australia, between Canberra and Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Tracey founded Treecreate in 2019 to respond to the ‘on the ground’ need for regenerating forests in urban and rural areas for interspecies and planetary wellbeing. She brings over 20 years experience as an educator in the tertiary sector and 15 years as an executive in the public sector, specialising in working with digital technologies to engage audiences.
Her public sector work focused on managing ICT, environmental and sustainability behaviour change programs. A systems thinker in demand as a public speaker, Tracey often collaborates with Indigenous Elders and communities, historians and scientists.
Her long term vision for Treecreate is to restore degraded farming and grazing land to create a physical space for reforestation, creativity and skills sharing.
As part of her interest in integrated and holistic approaches, Tracey also is a trained Reiki practitioner specialising in remote Reiki and guided visualisation for holistic healing. She is also certified in ProSci Change Management and a Prince2 Practitioner.
Personal Statement :
In my mind, the links between regenerative practices, Indigenous knowledge systems and wellbeing tie together awareness, culture and creativity. These ways of being offer the potential of hope for the future through processes of care, compassion and mindful action.
